On the river there are ocean-going ships, and lines of barges pulled along by tugs. 在 泰 晤 士 河 上 可 以 看 到 远 洋 轮 以 及 由 拖 轮 牵 引 的 一 排 排 驳 船。

Ships up to 6,000 tons can come as far as London Bridge, below which is the part of the river called the Pool. 6000 吨 级 的 船 只 可 以 直 达 伦 敦 桥， 桥 下 那 部 分 河 段 称 为 “the Pool”。

Some names are widely known. It has no definite boundaries, but covers an area of about twenty miles radius from Oxford Circus. “大 伦 敦” 没 有 明 确 的 边 界， 但 其 大 小 是 以 牛 津 广 场 为 中 心 约 20 英 里 半 径 之 内 的 区 域。
